Austin Icons Tour
Our Austin Icons Bicycle Tour will take you on a leisurely two hour ride through some of Austin's most memorable and historic neighborhoods. From the University of Texas campus to Sholtz's Beer Garden, there is sure to be something for everyone on this tour!
You'll visit the famous Treaty Oak and get the chance to learn about it's long and sometimes strange history as a location for war and peace parties with various Native American Tribes. We will take a ride through the University of Texas Campus to see the iconic tower that Charles Whitman made famous in 1966 and learn about school's founding in 1883. We'll visit Sholtz's Beer Garden, Texas' oldest operating business and talk about its significance in forming Texas culture, music and society from it's founding by German immigrant, August Scholtz, to it's current status as a popular spot for Austinites, university students, and tourists alike. You will also take a pedal down to the State Capital grounds to talk about the founding of Texas and the struggle that took place in naming Austin as the capital. Your tour includes a comfortable bike with handbrakes, gears, a rack for your stuff and a really great guide.
